Recognition
In Germany, the telc gGmbH partners up with the federal government for the language examination at the end of the integration courses for immigrants. Individuals who want to apply for German citizenship can document the necessary language skills with a telc certificate. When it comes to residence permits, all German-speaking countries recognise telc certificates.
telc – language tests are highly recognised by companies, government authorities, schools and universities. As there is no European body that regulates recognition issues, each institution that requests proof of language proficiency has to deal with its needs individually. Here are just some examples of cooperation with the telc certificates:
• The Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) commissioned telc to develop German language tests as a proof of language proficiency for the purpose of residence permits and naturalisation.
• In Switzerland, telc certificates are recognised for naturalisation or for the entrance into the public sector, depending on the according canton.
• In the United Kingdom (UK), telc is recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), the independent authority that regulates qualifications, examinations, and assessments in the United Kingdom.
• In Poland, language skills necessary for a civil service career can be documented with telc certificates.
• In Hungary, telc certificates are accredited by the state and entitle the holder to study at universities. The quality is constantly monitored by a government agency (NYAK).
• The Turkish Higher Education Council accepts telc German certificates on the CEFR-levels B2 and C1, making the use of the examinations possible in all Turkish universities.
• Universities in Spain recognise telc certificates as proof of foreign language skills.
• The certificate telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule is officially recognized and accepted by the members of the German Rectors' and Cultural Ministers’ Conference as proof of language skills for admission to German universities. Also many universities in Austria and Switzerland accept telc Certificates.
• Germany, in particular, makes use of the telc language certificates for physicians and nursing staff in the context of professional recognition.
• The telc entrance examination provides access to university studies for qualified candidates.
A survey by the Stiftung Warentest confirms that hiring managers know telc certificates and see them as a plus for the applicant.
